Sarah O’Brien
Large Animal Vet Assistant
Sarah O’Brien is originally from Baltimore, MD. Sarah found her love for animals while volunteering at the SPCA. She later worked on the Venom exhibit and in the Rainforest exhibit at the National Aquarium in Baltimore; before gaining 5 years of experience as an emergency veterinary technician in Baltimore City.
A 2005 move to Austin TX saw a career change and Sarah spent 17 years as a journeyman stage rigger and manager for a national live music production company.
Sarah, her family and pets moved to Raton in 2022 and she began working in the Mesa Vista Veterinary Hospital as large animal assistant in January of 2023. She enjoys exploring Colfax county roads and learning about the local history and geology.
Rachel McKinley
Vet Assistant
Hi, my name is Rachel and I have worked in the veterinary field for less than a year. Growing up around animals, big and small, I knew I wanted to be in this profession. I recently graduated with a Bachelors in Biology and I hope to continue my education in Veterinary Medicine to become a DVM and be able to advocate for patients who don’t have a voice. I have six dogs, one black lab and five hounds. Being able to watch them be passionate about their work as trackers is one of my favorite things to see.
Celeste Gabrian
Vet Assistant
Celeste arrived at Mesa Vista a little more than a year ago. She is honored to be a part of this compassionate and professional team. She loves animals and the people who care for them.
Tamara Sanchez
Vet Assistant
Tamara got into veterinary medicine in 2009 and hasn’t looked back. She has been working at Mesa Vista since 2015 and has fully enjoyed the variety of animals she gets to work with. Tamara loves cleaning dirty pet ears and doing dentals. She has 1 birth baby and 1 fur baby. When Tamara isn’t working or enjoying time with her son, she likes to attend live music shows and travel to new places.
Tabitha Encinias
Vet Assistant
Tabitha has worked in the veterinary field for about 9 years collectively. Working with animals is her passion and she loves what she gets to do every day. One of the greatest feelings is being able to speak the animal language with them when they aren’t feeling well or just going in for routine care.
Rosemary Arko
Vet Assistant
I was born and raised in Raton. I lived in upstate New York for about six years. I have been in the veterinary field for 16 years. I have been a vet assistant for the last 12 years. I have a small 40-acre hobby goat ranch with my sister and son. We raise meat goats for the 4-H kids as well for eating. I have multiple animals from dogs and a cat to horses and goats! And some exotics in between. I love my job, working with my coworkers and my patients and Clients!
